Personalities Over Tribes: A Call to Parents
When you tell your son or daughter not to marry from a particular tribe because someone in the family once did and it ended in disaster, you may be making a big mistake — in fact, a big future mistake.
Excuse me, which tribe is perfect? Absolutely none! Every tribe has its own strengths and weaknesses. To single out one group and label it unworthy of marriage is unfair and short-sighted.
Parents, our role is not to police tribes but to labour in prayer for our children — asking God to lead them to the right person from a good family. A person of integrity, love, and faith will bring peace, no matter their tribe.
Have we not seen marriages within the same tribe, or even the same village, collapse into bitter conflicts? Sometimes, no one can even resolve the war. Clearly, the issue is not tribal identity but personal character and family values.
So, let us shift our focus:
Uphold personalities over tribes.
Pray more than you stereotype.
Believe God for the best match for your children.
Happy new week,
